From the White Love Archives…

A huge dumping of archive articles has landed! Straight out of the dusty White Love vaults. This month we’ve added a whopping 19 archive features.

Continuing the 9-part series written by Paul Hanley, the third part of “The Dark Ages” focuses on the 1985/86 season. Poor league form, Charlie Wright sacked, Phil Neal at the helm and a trip to Wembley.

In addition we’ve got a couple of articles about the Horwich stadium move (pre & post) – “Not In My Backyard” and “Let’s Hear It… For The UK Waste Stadium”.

We’ve an archived interview “20 Questions with Dave Higson” from October 1998 , plus a piece taken from the Sunday Mirror in 1994 about Tony Kelly’s early days for Liverpool “Papertalk: Tony Kelly”.

Also dropped this month are:
“Promoted Northern Relegation Favourites”
“Mr. Difficult / Waste of Space”
“Do You Come From Manchester?”
“Couch Potato – Bolton on the Telly”
“He’s Havin’ A Crack!”
“Will They Ever Learn”
“John McGinlay: A Living Legend”
“The Rise & Fall of Sasa Curcic & The Blind Alley Dribble”
“Rolled Up Sleeves – From Warriors to Worriers; Battlers to Bottlers”
“Post Traumatic Stress”
“Wandering Afar”
“Hate Thy Neighbour: Wigan (a)Pathetic”

Lastly, both “Wayne’s World” and “Loyal White” are back for another helping.

Just scroll down the page and click the buttons to read. All of our articles are in a “blog” format, so once you have read one, you will see an arrow to click to the next piece. Alternatively, just hit the back button on your browser window.

THE DARK AGES

The third season in Bolton’s 10-year stint in the lower divisions was one of mixed emotion. Finishing in their lowest ever league position was masked only by a trip to the Twin Towers of Wembley. Paul Hanley writes.

ARCHIVE – REGULAR FEATURES

The return of Wayne Kerr and Loyal White

More archives from our spoof characters – the Southern shandy-drinking Wayne Kerr and his piss-stained Lonsdales! Plus the Wanderer who despises anything and everything to do with MUFC. This month he’s playing Urinal-Scrabble!

  • “What a great read for any Bolton fan of a certain age. “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” captures the rollercoaster ride that so many football fans will be familiar with. Amazing how easy it is to remember the Good and surprisingly the Ugly. The Bad not so much! Brings the mood of Burnden Park back to life as realistically as anything I have read.” IC, Yeadon

  • “What a great read. For the fans who got through the 70s, 80s and 90s at Burnden Park, with its ups and downs, what a journey it was and somehow always a pleasure. My recollections over the years have blurred, but “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” has reopened my eyes and has recreated some of those lost memories for me. Absolutely loved reading it, a great book for any Wanderers fan.” SH, Bolton

  • “Very interesting history of our fantastic club. Having been to many of these matches, it brought back a lot of good (and bad!) memories. Great reminder of my youth spent following Bolton all over the country!” SH, Helsinki

  • “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, digs deep in the heart and souls of the football supporter who follows his club through everything that’s thrown at them. The ups, the downs and the blows taken while following the Whites is on every page of this unique historical and social account of a club we call our own.” AW, Walkden

  • “Some colourful and fantastic memories from a not too distant era but a time when football was not tainted by Sky or the cleansed products of today. A proper thrills pills and bellyache memoir of old school football. A fantastic read.” GB, Euxton
